My friend Alan Mawyer sent me the link for a click-and-point game called Samorost, and in the few days that followed, I became a devoted fan. I completed version 1, but v. 2 has me stymied, I’m afraid. Earlier this year, v. 2 won a Webby award in the games category and an IGF award for best web browser game. Anyone who plays this beautifully rendered and intellectually challenging game will see that the awards were well deserved.
The website of the game’s creator tells us that “Amanita Design was founded in Bmo (Czech Republic) in 2003 by Jakub Dvorsky [and is] focused on creating online Flash games, animations and websites.” For the princely sum of US$7, you can buy a version of Samorost 2 that includes two additional chapters.
